Marlene Militz

Marlene Militz studiert Kunst- und Bildgeschichte an der Humboldt Universität zu Berlin und Contemporary Art Theory in Goldsmiths, University of London. Ihr Hauptfokus liegt auf dem Gebiet der Visual Culture und den Schnittstellen von Kunst, Politik und Öffentlichkeit. Insbesondere interessiert sie sich für soziale, politische und ideologische Fragestellungen, die das Museum, das Konzept der Kunstautonomie und den Umgang mit DDR-Kunst, -Geschichte und -Architektur betreffen. Aktuell beschäftigt sie sich mit Aktivismus in Kunstinstitutionen sowie der Bedeutung von architektonischen Rekonstruktionen in Geschichts- und Erinnerungspolitiken im öffentlichen Raum. Ihr Bachelorstudium der Kunstwissenschaft absolvierte sie an der Technischen Universität Berlin und an der Università Ca' Foscari in Venedig.
 
Marlene Militz ist Stipendiatin der Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes. Als freie Journalistin publiziert sie in Medien wie der "taz", "Blätter für deutsche und internationale Politik” oder "Texte zur Kunst”, wo sie auch als Verlagsmitarbeiterin tätig war. Zuletzt arbeitete sie als Projektkoordinatorin für den Curators Workshop der 12. Berlin Biennale.

Marlene Militz studies Art and Visual History at the Humboldt University Berlin and Contemporary Art Theory at Goldsmiths, University of London. Her main focus lies in the field of Visual Culture and the topics arising at the intersections of art, politics and the public sphere. In particular, she is interested in social, political and ideological issues concerning the museum, the concept of the autonomy of art and the architecture, history and art of the GDR. She is currently researching activism in art institutions and the significance of architectural reconstructions in the politics of history and memory in public space. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Art History at the Technical University of Berlin and the Università Ca' Foscari Venice.
 
Marlene Militz holds a scholarship with the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. As a freelance journalist, she publishes in various media such as "taz", "Blätter für deutsche und internationale Politik" and "Texte zur Kunst", where she also worked as a publishing associate. Most recently she was project coordinator for the Curators Workshop of the 12th Berlin Biennale.
